Dodge is known for creating high-powered vehicles, like the Viper. However, it also sells numerous family-friendly models, such as the Durango. With the concept, the automaker combines this family-friendliness with incredible power to create a model with three rows of seats in the style of those found in the Viper and a V8 engine.
The Powertrain of the Dodge Durango Shaker
The most exciting part of the Dodge Durango Shaker concept is probably its 6.4-liter V8 engine that works with an 8-speed automatic. Dodge didn’t say the output of this engine. However, experts guess that it should at least have the output of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, if not more. For comparison, this model has a 6.4-liter V8, as well, and produces 470 pound-feet of torque and 475 horsepower. To feed air into this huge engine, Dodge gave this concept a shaker hood scoop combined with a custom cold-air-intake system. The air is then pushed out through the cat-back exhaust and its center tailpipes.
The Shaker’s Design
The Durango Shaker has 22-inch wheels and tires of the same size. It is 3 inches closer to the ground than the regular Durango. The front end was redesigned to include a grille without crosshairs and a large front splitter. Instead of fog lights, you will notice the hollowed-out headlights from everyone’s favorite Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The exterior features are rounded out with a custom rear spoiler, unique lower-body cladding, and tinted taillights and headlights. There also is Satin Black detailing on the rear liftgate, roof, and hood. The interior has a flat-bottomed steering wheel you will recognize from the Charger SRT, three rows of leather seats typically found on the Viper, and a console-mounted shift lever.
While you won’t be able to get behind the wheel of the Dodge Durango Shaker, you can find plenty of other Durango configurations and the powerful Viper at James Hodge Dodge in Paris, Texas.
