In 1998 they added a Texas twist to it by adding a huge cowboy hat to the top of it. It is a picturesque item.

Lamar County Historical Museum

For history buffs and to let the young ones to experience pioneer life, the Lamar County Historical Museum is great place to stop by and learn. The museum has numerous historical artifacts dating from the early 1800’s when the county was settled. It has reconstructions of a pioneer kitchen and a blacksmith shop. It even has a cabin originally constructed in 1946.

Sam Bell Maxey House

Built in 1868, by Samuel Bell Maxey, a Confederate General and Texas two-term Senator, is a Victorian Mansion. It is on the US National Register of Historic Places. Touring the house, allows you to see to experience how the upper class lived after the Civil War.
